Lingle Continues to Whittle at State Spending
By Bruce Dunford
Associated Press Writer

HONOLULU (AP) - The Lingle administration continued Wednesday to whittle away at current and future state spending to balance the two-year, $15.2 billion and state budget now before lawmakers without using the $184 million Hawaiʻi Hurricane Relief Fund.

“In the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, cuts include over $1 million by delaying Parks Division hiring, reducing park maintenance, reducing funding for the pilot projects involving bottomfish and freezing hiring.”
